dc.descriptionAn institution based retrospective follow-up study among 488 type 2 diabetes patients was carried out at Injibara General Hospital from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2024. Simple random sampling was used. The data collection tool was comprised of socio-demographic factors (age, sex, residence, marital status), complications and health status (presence of comorbidity, presence of new infection, diabetic complications), patient background (BMI, family history of DM, family history of HTN, duration of DM, cigarette Smoking, physical exercise, alcohol use, Unhealthy diet consumption), baseline metabolic and blood pressure levels (serum creatinine level, baseline SBP, Baseline DBP, baseline FPG level, triglyceride levels, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein), and diabetes management and treatment (glycemic control, drug adherence, anti-DM taken) related characteristics. The dataset is available in SPSS format.

local.criteria.exclusionThose who were diagnosed with hypertension at baseline and/or patients with a record in the medical chart of having had hypertension prior to the diagnosis of diabetes. Pregnant women: patients below 18 years of age or a patient transferred in with unknown hypertension status.
local.criteria.inclusionAll Individuals who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and free of hypertension at the start of the follow up.
