dc.descriptionAn institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from February 1 to 30, 2025 in psychiatric units at MTI clinic and Dabat primary hospital. A stratified sampling technique was used to recruit 418 mothers with under five children. Data was collected using pretested structured interviewer administer questionnaire, and chart review and anthropometric measurements. The data collection tool was comprised of Sociodemographic and economic factors (age, sex, marital status, living condition, educational status, occupation, religion, income, residence /camp and out of camp), clinical factors (duration/ length of treatment for psychiatric case, type of psychiatric diagnosis, type of medication, taking prescribed diet, multiple medications intake), dietary related factors (frequency of meals consumed per day, food intake declined/ loss of appetite, habit of having breakfast and snack, individual diversity score, behavioural and psychosocial factors (cigarette/tobacco smoking, status, chowing of chat 18, alcohol use-drinking of Arekie, beer, wine),infection (TB, HIV/ AIDS, malaria, Diarrhea). Data was entered to Epi data software version 4.6 and analyzed using SPSS version 26 software. The dataset is available in SPSS format.
